Roof Maxx & Rejuvenation
Roof Maxx vs. Full Replacement: How Champaign Homeowners Decide
Brad Shaner · July 8, 2026
A full tear-off is not always the answer. Here is how we decide between rejuvenation and replacement on Champaign-Urbana roofs, and what each one actually costs you.
Most homeowners call us assuming a worn roof means a new roof. Often it does not. If your shingles are aging but still structurally sound, rejuvenation can add years of life for a fraction of the cost of a tear-off.
When rejuvenation is the right call
Roof Maxx is a plant-based treatment that restores the oils asphalt shingles lose as they age. It works best on roofs that are roughly 8 to 20 years old and still in sound condition.
- Shingles are drying and losing granules, but not cracked through or missing in patches.
- The decking underneath is solid, with no active leaks or sagging.
- You want to extend the roof you have rather than finance a full replacement this year.
When replacement is the honest answer
If the roof is past its service life, has storm damage across multiple slopes, or the decking is compromised, rejuvenation only delays the inevitable. In those cases we will tell you plainly and give you a transparent, itemized replacement quote.
What each option costs
Rejuvenation typically runs a fraction of a full replacement and adds up to five years of life per treatment. Replacement is the larger investment but resets the clock entirely and comes with our 10-year workmanship warranty. A free inspection is how we tell you which one your roof actually needs.
